GREEN MAN

This design is rich in folklore. The God of the Wood, The Horned God, Herne, Cernunnos, Pan.... all coming from Celtic, Greek, and Roman Cultures, to name a few. Though many of the names bring forth  different images, they all interconnect to the same symbolic meaning and masculine connection to the woods and green growing things. In this piece, I wanted to bring in the Druidic elements, though it is based on the traditional Green Man depicted on many Roman Cathedrals. The Oak leaves, acorns, and stag adornments tie it to it’s ancient roots.
